The first Paula Modersohn Becker retrospective in the United States of America opens on June 6.6.2024, 2024. It will first be presented in the Neue Galerie New York, then the equally renowned Art Institute Chicago will show the large-scale show from October XNUMX. Pictures from the Hanover collection are indispensable: five paintings from the exhibition “I will do something else. Paula Modersohn-Becker in Hanover« travels to the USA.
The Hanover pictures will now significantly establish and promote the artist's global reputation outside of Europe, and will carry the fame of the painter from the Lower Saxony village of Worpswede into the world. The resulting gaps were closed with the support of generous loans – particularly from the Ahlers collection. Thanks to the five oil paintings that show Paula Modersohn-Becker's special affinity for the painting motifs "Birches" and "Girls", the very well-attended exhibition gains new accents in its extended duration and expands the view of Paula Modersohn-Becker's entire oeuvre.
